Flagstaff’s Inclusive Sports Program aims to break down social barriers and foster inclusion by enabling individuals living with disabilities to join traditional mainstream sports teams. Launched in April 2024 and continuing through 2025, the program is funded by the CommBank Staff Foundation (CBSF) and the Shoalhaven City Council Community Grants Program.
The CommBank Staff Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of Australian communities and Shoalhaven City Council’s Community Grants Program supports local initiatives that promote community wellbeing, participation, and connection, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be involved.
Joining a sports team not only boosts confidence but also enhances health and wellbeing. Thanks to grant funding, Flagstaff has been able to offer people with disabilities the chance to try tennis, basketball, soccer, and boxing, while also providing disability awareness education to sporting organisations across the region.
Through this program, people with disabilities have been empowered to explore various sports, while clubs have gained valuable insights on how to make their teams more inclusive and welcoming.

Flagstaff has used the grant funding to develop educational modules and resources that can be used by sporting teams and community sports organisations to better support and include members with disabilities.
