Expands Recycling Program
Flagstaff Paper to Paper is now accepting a variety of soft and colored plastics through a new initiative with Circular Plastics Illawarra, the Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation (ISJO), and participating local councils.
The general public can use this free drop-off service for items similar to those previously accepted by the REDcycle scheme at supermarkets, including bread bags, frozen vegetable packets, and cling wrap.
What are soft plastics?
Plastics that can be scrunched into a ball. Examples include:
- Plastic bags (clear and coloured)
- Biscuit and snack wrappers
- Chip packets and silver-lined snack wrappers
- Fresh and frozen food wrappers/bags
- Pasta, bread, and rice bags (plastic and woven types)
- Cling wrap, bubble wrap, and snap lock zip bags
- Document sleeves, mail satchels, and carrier bags
- Cereal liners and plastic pet food bags

Important requirements: All soft plastics must be clean, empty, and dry before drop-off.
The recycling journey: From Unanderra, collected materials are transported to iQRenew, Australia’s first purpose-built soft plastics recycling facility located near Taree on the Mid North Coast. There, these plastics are transformed into useful products including bottle inserts, baskets, fence posts, FOGO caddies, and other items.
This initiative helps divert plastic waste from landfills while creating valuable new products for our community.

Flagstaff Paper to Paper’s Secure Document Destruction service offers peace of mind and protection against identity theft, confidentiality breaches and non-compliance with regulations. Both secure shredding boxes or locked bins are available to meet your needs.
Secure Shredding Boxes – ‘Box of Destruction’
Perfect for your home or office, Flagstaff’s Box of Destruction is an ideal and convenient way to ensure documents are shredded securely and disposed of in a safe environment.
For only $26.99 (incl GST) you can purchase a secure shredding Box of Destruction. Take it home or to the office, fill with your documents, then bring it back to Flagstaff when full for secure shredding.
Flagstaff will ensure the contents are securely shredded and recycled so you have peace of mind while being environmentally friendly.
The Box of Destruction is an ideal carry size for the home – 44cm x 32cm x 43cm.
Take advantage of our convenient secure bin hire service. The Flagstaff team will deliver a secure locked bin and collect the full bin when you are ready. The bin is securely transported in an enclosed truck back to the Flagstaff destruction facility, where 100% of contents are securely shredded and recycled. Destruction certificates are available on request.
Flagstaff now offers two soft plastic recycling options:
- Expanded Community Program As part of our new initiative with Circular Plastics Illawarra and ISJO, we now accept a variety of soft AND colored plastics similar to the former REDcycle scheme. - LDPE-4 Commercial & Bulk Service We continue to recycle low-density polyethylene (identifiable with the LDPE-4 symbol) including bubble wrap, shrink wrap, pallet wrap, shopping bags, and clear plastic bags. Please note: Only clear LDPE-4 plastics are accepted for this service – NO colored plastic. Depositing the wrong type requires time-consuming manual sorting, reduces recycled product quality, and can damage equipment.
For large volumes, rent a bale frame to bag plastic at your site, then choose weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or on-demand collection service available throughout the Shoalhaven and Illawarra.

Securely dispose of x-rays by dropping them off at our facility where they will be securely handled and recycled. Our processes ensure that sensitive information is completely destroyed, and materials can be repurposed to reduce waste going to landfill.
