The Flagstaff Group is an Australian Disability Enterprise operating sustainable businesses that provide meaningful employment for people with a disability in the Shoalhaven and Illawarra region

Our mission is to enhance the lives of people with a disability by helping them gain greater confidence and self-esteem through acquisition of new skills, qualifications and meaningful employment.

In honouring our values of; ‘Support, Include, Lead and Celebrate’ when delivering supports to people with a disability, we’re always wanting to extend our core values into the broader community and would love the opportunity to engage with you.

I am writing to you, in the hope that we can collaborate to establish Work Experience opportunities for people with a disability.

So what’s in it for you?

By partnering with us, you are providing a chance for many young participants to have the same prospects to learn, gain transferrable skills, and be included within our society.  Additionally, Flagstaff gives you access to our dID Program Learning Modules - Disability Inclusion Discovery (diD) explores the whats, whys and hows of employing people with disabilities.

Full of specialist information, this module will guide you through topics that will equip you with increased awareness, understanding and knowledge on the recruitment and selection processes of people with disabilities!

What do we want to achieve with you? A minimum of 3 hours, one day of the week, over 6 weeks of work experience. (There is no requirement for you to provide employment afterwards).

With the option to extend, should it suit the business needs.

What do we provide: We provide 1:2 ratio.  Put simply, our trained staff will be on site and support participants through understanding instruction and completion of tasks.

Australian and international studies* have shown: One in five people in Australian experience a disability.

Employees and customers are more loyal to organisations that demonstrate valued diversity and inclusion, that their workforce reflects the community as a whole.

  • Reliable—people with disability take fewer days off, take less sick leave and have a higher retention rate than other workers. The costs to business of absenteeism and sick leave for employees with disability can be as low as 34 per cent of the cost incurred by their colleagues.
  • Productive—once in the right job, people with disability perform equally as well as other employees.
  • Good for business—people with disability build strong relationships with customers and boost staff morale and loyalty by helping to create a diverse workforce. Teamwork is enhanced. Real cost savings are realised through reduced turnover, recruitment and retraining costs.
