Flagstaff was delighted to welcome the NSW Minister for Disability Ray Williams and Parliamentary Secretary for Illawarra Gareth Ward MP to our Unanderra site today.

They announced they would provide $6,300 contribution to Flagstaff for the construction of a safety fence at the Nowra site. They presented the cheque to Flagstaff CEO Roy Rogers in front of a number of supported employees and staff. The Minister and MP then enjoyed a tour of the Unanderra site, meeting more employees and learning about the work of our different divisions.

The security fence is to be installed at Flagstaff Nowra in the coming months, which will improve security for the Nowra site and it’s staff and supported employees.

“It is important that workers feel safe and secure while at the facilities and I am glad we could contribute to the construction of this necessary fencing,” Mr Williams said. “I commend the vital work that Flagstaff delivers to help up-skill, train and provide employment opportunities for local people with disability.”

Mr Ward said he was proud to support an organisation who removed barriers so people with disability living in the Illawarra region can reach their full potential. “Since 1966, Flagstaff has empowered local people with disability to find meaningful employment ranging from hospitality, administration, aged care to product assembly. The organisation supports more than 275 local people with a disability to reach their potential and achieve their employment goals,” Mr Ward said.

Flagstaff CEO Roy Rogers said he was delighted to welcome Mr Williams and Mr Ward to the site. “We are extremely grateful for the NSW Government’s funding towards the investment of improved security fencing for our North Nowra site,” Mr Rogers said. “We thank the Government for their ongoing support and acknowledgement of the work Flagstaff does in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven community in providing meaningful employment and skills development opportunities for people with disability.”

The Flagstaff Group would like to thank the Minister and MP for their ongoing support to Flagstaff and our work in the community, and their commitment to the installation of the Nowra security fence.
