The gym allows people with a disability to meet goals such as to getting fit, building muscle and stamina, participating in social sports, meditation, stretching and fitness education. All these activities are supervised and conducted by passionate, qualified personal trainers.

State Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully, opened the Workout Gym on Tuesday, 29 October 2019. Additional funding under the Community Building Partnerships program has allowed the team's ambitious vision to become reality.

The gym is an extension of the fitness program run by Flagstaff over the last two years and will provide more options for people with a disability to increase their health levels in a safe environment.
